Farewell to Big Red

Kristen's father passed away Friday, March 28, 2014. 

Rest in peace, Big Red. My thoughts are with Kristen and her family.

Little Projects

Kim has a kindle that needs a cute cover. Here are two.

Annabelle's quilt, it turns out, is just the right colors for her new nursery. Kerry asked that I try to cover the glider cushions in something coordinating, and this is what I came up with from my stash. Minky...sooooooooo soft!!





















Sophia has so much faith in me that she thinks I can fix shoes that are too wide! Turns out, I can, but it required a lot of hand stitching, which is NOT my forte. Tough times, dropped needles, bad words, but I think it's a good fix in the end.
I bought 8 yards of indigo shades in the Hearty Good Wishes line, which is absolutely me. Then I ordered a bunch more from fabric.com in parts that they didn't have at Quilted Threads. 13 yards more.

Stashing again

I just bought 13.5 yards on sale at Fabricworm. Though I've exercised some restraint recently as I remodel and add shelves to my sewing space, I could not resist RK Lawn for $6 a yard. I want to make lightweight blouses for summer. When?!! I also snuck in 35 yards from Hawthorne and Del Ray. Lots of jelly rolls and complementary stuff.

It seems almost inevitable that I bought a Cricut machine for cutting paper, though I have sworn not to become one of those people who spends a lot of time "scrapbooking." I would be delighted just to have photos in albums. I'm a decade behind in organizing photos. So much so that I don't even bother to put it my New Year's resolutions any more. I bought it because I knew the girls would also love creating cards and paper crafts and we could laugh together and enjoy some crafting time. It worked. I use my longarm machine while they make stuff. Alexandra is making little cards for her boyfriend. There's no love like 16-year-old love, that's for sure.

French General Metro Ring

I have worked with Valerie for 16 years, and we have become very good friends. Who understands me better than she? I would venture to say no-one. Valerie has retired and moved to Colorado, where she will spend more time with her dear grandson, Clyde, son of her dear daughter, Andrea. Although this is where she should be, I miss her every day. This quilt is for Valerie, whose path I hope to cross again someday, perhaps when I retire to Colorado.
